Old Calendar Girls

If you notice the old picture of a lady posing which is hanging on the right side of the wall; it is actually an original "Old Calendar Girls" poster. The originals are hard to come by these days. It has become a well sought after collectors item. Found these at the Elderweiss cafe in Armenian Street.

The Palazzo

Well this is a new condominium which is quite costly; but what I am interested is the facade of this building. It is one of its kind in Penang and it strongly suggest the influences from Taiwan. I have seen some apartment / condominium which looks similar somewhere in Taipei. i wonder who the architect is though.

Flower in a glass

Well, I simply highlighted these flowers as I want to note down that; we seldom see this kind of flowers bloom in Malaysia... It's so damn hot here and these flowers only grow in colder countries. I dine is this restaurant and they had cut flowers like these all over the restaurant, no wonder the food there are bit more expensive too. Hmmm.... but I still love those flowers, but I do not know their name...

The Traditional Kitchen

I bet you don't really get to see this anymore in the new renovated houses. This type of older version of kitchen is not as popular as before as it needs lots of time and manpower to handle it. For example the usage of charcoal is not widely use these days.

As you can see here, there's indeed a mini tropical jungle created by nature at this building. It is high in the air like one of the babylonian's "Hanging garden". Birds love this new found paradise within the city. ;)

Been heading to town to do some chores, I find these windows interesting so I took a picture of it. :) The sign post above the gate post is interesting too. The roof top of this particular building has two mini little roosters, I don't know why they are up there though.

This side lane has lots of backpackers around and this yellow coffee shop around the corner just serve the right purpose for backpackers to have meals. Here you can see the Penang's Trishaw parking in front of the coffee shop. PIN SENG hotel is name after Penang which is the Cantonese Chinese pronunciation.

Pretty Details

This is the side view of a roof. This building is not a temple but it is a clan temple though. The Chinese honour and remembers their ancestors and fore-fathers here. Found the details near side wall of the roof, and I like the colours and motifs too. It's a pity that I can't show you the details of it though... no zoom lens :(

Basket for sale?

All these old bamboo/rattan carrier baskets are not for sale, in fact it is a display of a variaties of baskets where people use when they shop for things in the wet market. As in the old days plastics bags has not even been introduced. The silver carrier are of common use during those days too.

Hot Day!

The weather is getting hotter these days due to global warming. As you can see here, there are lots of food courts and cafes and outdoor mini bars has these kind of huge fans with sprinkling water to cool down the area. Well, so far it's better than air conditioner which only makes the world become hotter!
