The Guardians

The Happy and Sad monks.... Found these at the entrance of the "Khoo Kongsi Temple", Penang. It is a clan temple where all the ancestors of the "Khoo" family 'stays'.
These are also the guardians of the temples. You can see that they are actually facing outside the temple and holding a riffle! Ages ago, the "Singhs" are highly acknowledge for their guarding skills. They are the most hired bodyguards of the rich tycoons. That's why we are seeing these guardians statues in a chinese clan temple.

Lonely Beach

Love this image as it gives me both the perspective of a lonely beach and a surreal modern landscape behind it. Feels as though all the rest of the world are so far yet so near.
As you can see that there are a few "Sampans" or fishing boats around which makes this beach untouched by locals and tourists. The access road to here is not well known as it is at the back of a restaurant and used to be a private beach. These beautiful place consists the ruins of a fence and gate of a bangalow house by the beach.... which is a hidden place in town.
The hidden scene, an abandoned bangalow..... lost in time!

C'est interesant! Love this petit small living plant, it is striving to survive in such a harsh place. Hard living indeed.

Shadows of beauty

I find these shadows interesting, as the patterns and curves shows a kind of motif, like art nouveau which I love. Originally these fences are on a corridor inside a building. Whereby there are halls and rooms along it. I can't really show you more as the owner does not really allow photographs taken..... hmmm. Well I found them inside the "Peranakan Museum". If you were to visit there, you will find almost all things are from the heritage of "Nyona & Baba". They are actually the local mix brat of Chinese & Malay, they speak a specific language that have a mix culture of (Malay & Hokkien). Well, my Great-grandma and grandma is a "Nyonya" and I used to have a Nyonya nanny as well.

Visitor's Board

I have found this Heritage Paramount Hotel located near the beach, around the town area near Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah. I do not know the exact address though. There is a waterfront seafood restaurant directly in front of the hotel, called Ocean Green. I found that this Visitor's board quite unique as nowadays, we hardly find this type of recording in the new or latest hotels or even motels anymore. I think this is the only hotel still using this method of recording. Thus, indeed I find it very interesting!

These are some of the pictures that I took in front of the Ocean Green Seafood restaurant. It's a hidden treasure in Penang as some penangites don't even know it exists!

Pigeon stands

I happened to come across these pigeons where by they stands on the windows and doors of a building. They look kind of cute don't they? Pigeons are some of the birds that you may find in Penang. Quite often they flew everywhere around town only.

Ahh... the Sky is so Blue...

These are some photos of the new renovated port area, Tanjung Marina. Well one can easily dock thier yatch or boat here for a small fee. If you love sailing, here can be one of your stops.

Further down in this picture, you can see the ferry, which is one of the ways people from the mainland travel to Penang island.

Build in the 1886

I have stumble upon this building which is still standing after all these years. It was built in 1886. It survived the war and changes, magnificently, it is now own by a bank, and will soon be converted into a bank. I love the balconies and the windows, even the drainage pipe shows intricate designs. Well preserved!

This building is located in Beach Street Penang. If you happen to go there early in the morning, you will feel as though you are in Britain, as most of the building there are heavy infuence by the british colonial style, well I do not really know much about architecture but I love the street during early mornings and especially Sunday mornings. It is quiet yet nostalgic.

Fisrt of all, I will start blogging about my hometown in Malaysia, Penang - my everlasting love for it will never end. I happen to love it so much and I feel the need to share it with all the people out there what is it made of.
